Prayer Shawl Ministry

Do you know someone who is going through a difficult time? Would you like them to receive a prayer shawl?

St. Joseph of the Panther Valley invites you to participate in this Corporal Work of Mercy.  If you know how to knit & purl or single & double crochet you can make a shawl!

Basic materials are needed – yarn, needles, and a pattern – before you begin to knit or crochet the shawl, a prayer is said dedicating the work of your hands for the intentions of the receiver.

When completed, the shawl is blessed and then given to a nursing home resident, someone who is homebound, a parishioner, neighbor, or friend in need of comfort or solace for whatever reason.

If you have questions about the Prayer Shawl Ministry or need more information, please contact Mary Ellen Ogozalek via phone at 570-645-3719 or email mog246@yahoo.com.
