Sacrament of Baptism
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.
Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213
Baptisms are held for our registered and practicing parishioners normally on the first Sunday of the month immediately after the 11:00 Mass and on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 1:00pm. Parents are to register for a Baptismal Preparation Class (first child only) which will be held the second Sunday of the even months. At least one Godparent must be a practicing Catholic for the valid reception of baptism. That person must also receive a certificate of eligibility from their Catholic Parish. A non-Catholic Christian is permitted to act as a witness. Parents should begin to make arrangements for baptism during pregnancy. Please call the Parish Office to make register for the Baptismal Class and to make arrangements for a Baptism. 570-645-2664 ext. 1
